  1. The ‘BERLIN’ brand with its tourist stores for souvenirs and city merchandise is likely the most omnipresent use of FF Justlefthand in Berlin. Founded in 1991 by Michael Stiebitz during the Berlin Olympic Games bid campaign, the sports marketing company M.A.X. 2001 created ‘BERLIN’ as “the capital city’s brand” in 1994.

According to M.A.X. 2001, the five colors are based on the Olympic rings and symbolize the multicultural wealth of the capital. The arrangement of the six letters in two lines is said to refer to the city’s historical division and to emphasize its reunion in 1989/90.
