I’m Amand Chevallier, a 3D motion designer. In my project titled Hommage à Jean Widmer (“Tribute to Jean Widmer”), I aimed to highlight the work of Jean Widmer using contemporary digital means, based on the sketches and original creations of the Swiss graphic designer made for the Centre de Création Industrielle (CCI) exhibition in Paris in 1970.
The objective of this project is to showcase the various creative subtleties conceived by Jean Widmer that remained in the sketch stage back in his time. Today, Widmer’s ideas are achievable due to the evolution of our tools. The utilization of new techniques in this project serves as a way to continue his work in a new dimension and introduce the works of Widmer, a pioneer of his time, to a new audience. Hommage à Jean Widmer aims to be a graphic experimentation project, driven by no profit motive other than appealing to a younger audience and achieving greater recognition for the works of Widmer, who is still considered a reference today. Around thirty graphic experiments were conducted for this project, employing various digital tools to imbue the original project with a more modern aesthetic, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of this series of posters.
