A quintessential and iconic example of ITC Serif Gothic in use for a 1970s slasher horror film. After the success of Halloween, many horror and sci-fi films from the late ’70s and early ’80s (and even into the 21st century) made use of ITC Serif Gothic.
What is the *ACTUAL TITLE CARD FONT* for the original Halloween movie? Yes, ITC Serif is used for virtually everything else, but it is not the font used for the actual HALLOWEEN title in the movie. Do we know what that font is?
Are you asking about the type on the second image shown in this post? That would be ITC Serif Gothic, but used in a different form than elsewhere. The original phototype version came with numerous alternates. The wordmark uses the pointed A and the round (uncial) E, which drastically alter the look. The symmetrical W with the low center is probably a customization. The alternates unfortunately weren’t included in the official digital versions.
