Invitation flyer for a special evening

Flyers for Schrill Bizarr Brachial. Das Neue Deutsche Design der 80er Jahre, the current exhibition at the Bröhan-Museum, Berlin’s state museum for Art Nouveau, Art Déco and Functionalism.

While the typeface itself dates back to the 1930s, the type treatment with the glow and the cold neon color scheme provide the desired 1980s atmosphere. Depicted is Heinz H. Landes’ cantilever chair Solid from 1986 (photo: Martin Adam, Berlin © VGBild-Kunst, Bonn 2014).

Front side of the print flyer. Reporter features an unusual open form for the figure 8. Here (and only here) this odd glyph has been modified, assumably to make it less ambiguous. With the now too heavy and adynamic top, the result is not very convincing, though.
