A psychedelic, technicolor modification of Alphabet Lapidaire Monstre on the front cover of this 1960s mariachi album – perhaps inspired by traditional Mexican textiles or decorative patterns. The back cover features Alphabet Lapidaire Monstre too, but in a more typical, uncolored rendition. Egyptienne also shows up in outline form, and the body text appears to be a wonky incarnation of Univers – perhaps the version made for IBM Selectric Composers.
I have! I also realize my wording of that wasn’t ideal: It wasn’t the uncolored-ness that made it seem more typical to me (in fact, of all the renditions we have documented on Fonts In Use, more of them are colorized than not!). I was more referring to the internal patterns as being more typical that the version on the cover.
